About me

I am a multi-award winning journalist (ret.) turned memoir writer. I began as a professional photographer in New York City where I was a member of the American Society of Magazine Photographers and Spokesperson for Women Photographers of New York. I moved into publishing when I moved to the D.C. area with my two young children. Eventually I moved back to L.A. and into writing and reporting fulltime.

Now is a time for remembering and sharing.

Thanks for stopping by.

  5. My memoir will be published spring 2012. I saw you on She Writes and wanted to answer your question “Are you ready to be a heroine of your own book?” That question makes my heart beat in my throat and would love to find the discussion about it! Anyway, nice to find you…your work sounds very interesting!!!!

    • Thank you Nancy. Your memoir project certainly sounds interesting and you appear to be making great progress. Your last title was my favorite–never hurts to add a little spice.

I signed on for the memoir blog hop on your blog, but don’t seem to have managed to make it show up on mine. We’ll see…

  8. Hi Carolyn, Thanks for stopping by! I want to know what back country of LA you live in. Maybe out in Frank Zappa country?

  9. Hello CJ! I was just wasting time on the internets, and came across this: http://www.kplu.org/post/seattle-s-latest-rising-star-colonel-meow#.UHSndFlvBdM.twitter Made me immediately think of you and Smoke, so had to share. Hope all is good for you and you had a good summer!

Hey Tele! That’s some scary cat! Thanks for the shout out. It’s great to hear from you. I still read your every gorgeous post.

I’m now getting eggs from four chickens I purchased as day-old chicks last spring. At first Smoke wanted to eat them. Now, when I let them out in the backyard, she runs the other direction.

      Take care. CJ

Hi, Are you the Carolyn Barbre who had a photo in the Bus Show exhibit in 1975? If so, could I get your date of birth? I’m cataloging the photo for the Library of Congress collection. Thanks!
